Trip Advisor Series: 2017 Butte, MT

Trip Advisor Series 2017 Butte, Montana, USA June 8-10, 2017–I attended a Red Cross training that was being held at the Quality Inn and Conference Center.  Although it was just off the freeway, I didn’t notice any traffic noise. The hotel seems to have been previously neglected and is now in the process of getting some much needed loving.  They are in the process of installing new carpet and log furniture.  Our room had a great shower! The hotel has…

Trip Advisor Series: 2016 WDW–Check Out Nature!

Trip Advisor Series:   2016 WDW–Check Out Nature! April 8, 2016–I thought going on a Thursday evening would be a good time to visit Disney Springs (formerly Downtown Disney).  What a mistake!  After a long, hot day of exploring, I found myself in the middle of a sea of people.  It was bustling, had lots of entertainment, and it was festively lit…but it would have been much more fun had it not been so crowded! After I finished eating some…

Trip Advisor Series: 2016 WDW–Standing Out in a Sea of People

Trip Advisor Series: 2016 WDW–Standing Out in a Sea of People

Trip Advisor Series 2016 WDW–Standing Out in a Sea of People   April 9 2016–I was there at Walt Disney World to attend a medical conference that was held at the Coronado Resort from Saturday – Wednesday.  Let me first say that with so many people, activities and stimuli, it’s really easy to get into the mode where all you see are people and not the person!  You are literally herded from one breakout session to another, swimming upstream to…

What Were You Doing At 18?

What Were You Doing At 18?

So, what were you doing at 18? Last weekend I went to our local theater and attended a public showing of a cowboy movie fully filmed and casted by a bunch of local homeschoolers (with the help of some “older” folks) with a $4,000 budget.  I was expecting inferior quality all around:  acting, music, sound, video, storyline, etc.  What a complete shock!! These kids created a full-length, mostly family-friendly movie (some gun violence) with amazing horsemanship and breathtaking scenery shots,…

Appreciate Wise Decisions

Appreciate Wise Decisions

Have you ever thanked a deer for being “smart”? Last week I was driving home from the “Big City” at about 9 pm and it was dark.  I was going around 65 mph when I caught a glimpse of the white butt of a mule deer chomping on some fresh spring grass on the side of the freeway.  It was too late for me to slow down so I was overly grateful that the deer exercised wisdom and didn’t bolt…

Dust Off Your Dream

Dust Off Your Dream

In January, 2015, I started Bucket List Rebel.  I thought if I was dreaming of a better life, places to go, experiences to accomplish and financial independence, then other people must be too!  So I began to envision Bucket List Rebel.  I didn’t know what I was doing but I had a deep desire to take steps toward living the life I’ve been dreaming of and how I can build that into my financial freedom. The next month I…

Today, I Made My Mom Cry…

Today, I Made My Mom Cry…

I know, right?  What kind of daughter am I? Mom asked me yesterday if I was planning to go to the “Big City” this weekend.  I said, “No, why?”  She had made a list from a grocery store sales ad and was hoping that I could add it to my travel plan. I told her that the forecast said tomorrow is going to be a beautiful day and we should go together.  I’m always trying to find a reason to…

The “Value” of a Smile!

The “Value” of a Smile!

Exactly how much does it cost a person to smile?  My friend, Mike Holliday, gave me a book called “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie. Here is a quote that made my week: “Some years ago, a department store in New York City, in recognition of the pressures its sales clerks were under during the Christmas rush, presented the readers of its advertisements with the following homely philosophy: The Value of a Smile at Christmas It…

Dream Again

Dream Again

OK, this is it! I’m turning a new direction in my life. Starting…TODAY!! Ever since I was a kid I’ve had “Wanderlust”. I have still been able to squeeze out a road trip here and there with my trusty Subaru of 286,000 miles, but my dreams of travel, experiencing different flavors and cultures and meeting amazing people have gotten buried by my every day life. What my life used to look like–I am/was a workaholic who never got ahead. I’ve…
